Session One

Focus: Conceptual development: is there enough evidence of research and exploration, does the project respond effectively to the brief?

Requirements from students: research, roughs and mock-ups for discussion.

Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 August 2010

Saturday 04 and Sunday 05 September 2010

Session Two

Focus: Typography fine tuning: is good typographic crafting demonstrated, is typographic hierarchy sufficiently expressed?

Requirements from students: virtually completed project for discussion.

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September 2010
Saturday 03 and Sunday 04 October 2010

Depending on the demand we are expecting to spend an hour per student. Places are obviously limited, so students will need to be registered by tutors, to ensure their intention to register and their commitment to complete the project.

The Low Down

The International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) is a professional body for typography that aims to inform and inspire typographers, graphic designers, writers and educators engaged in the field of visual communication.

The Society has always given a high priority to supporting graphic design/communication students at many levels. The Annual Student Assessment, initiated in 1977, accepts work from around the world to assessments in six countries. The inaugural Australasian Assessment was held in Melbourne last year, adding significantly to those already running in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Lebanon and South Africa.
